Muitas vezes nos deparamos com palavras que usam tanto o final "-ise" ou "-ize". Afinal, qual é o correto?

No inglês americano, é muito mais usado "IZE" e no inglês britânico "ISE". Veja:

É interessante notarmos que algumas palavras com mais de duas sílabas, terminadas em -ise, são aceitas tanto em inglês britânico como em americano:
